The IT Help Desk exists to maintain and improve user experience on campus. The IT Help Desk is available whenever you need it and is the recommended point of contact for technical support. We are equipped to assist you with Edison State user ID and passwords, Edison State email, Blackboard, WebAdvisor, training and more. To receive assistance in an expedient manner, please have your student or employee ID number ready when contacting the IT Help Desk.
Note While the IT Help Desk is an excellent resource, it's important to know that home computers, networks, personal equipment, WebAssign and applications or user information concerning the admissions process are not supported. Please review the
Computer User Agreement for details regarding policies and procedures.

Student accounts are automatically created after you register for classes and give you access to computers on campus, Edison State email, your Z-drive, WebAdvisor and Blackboard. Accounts take at least 72 hours to be created. Your Edison State email will be the only email address used for college communications. Exceptions include students who have registered for XLN, College Credit Plus or Business and Industry courses. If this is the case, please contact a Resource Specialist, your Advisor or the Business and Industry Center.
Employee accounts are automatically created after being hired and will give you access to computers on campus, your Z-drive, Edison State email, WebAdvisor, Blackboard and any other assignments deemed necessary by your dean or immediate supervisor. Accounts take at least 72 hours to be created.
You will receive a student ID card during the enrollment process. Your student ID number can be found in the upper left corner of your student ID card. It is required that you have your student ID number when calling or visiting the IT Help Desk. Your student ID number is also essential when enrolling into the required Self Service Reset Password Management (SSRPM) service.
If you are new Edison State student, you will receive a student ID at the time of registration. Your student ID contains your student ID number. You can determine your user name by visiting WebAdvisor and following the instructions below.
Your issued student ID number and user name will remain the same throughout your time at Edison State.
Once your network account is created and you have determined your user ID, you are assigned a default password. The default password is composed of the following two elements:
NOTE If your last name includes additional letters that are normally capitalized they will still be capitalized in your default password. If you last name is less than four characters the capital letter "A" will be added to the end of your name until enough letters are added to satisfy the four-character requirement. Passwords are case-sensitive.
Here are a few examples:
Student ID# = 1234567
Last Name = Smith
Default Password = 4567Smit
Student ID# = 2345678
Last Name = Ray
Default Password = 5678RayA
Student ID# = 3456789
Last Name = McCoy
Default Password = 6789McCo
If you activated your account but never changed your password, then your password will still be your default. You are strongly encouraged to change your default password by using the Self Service Reset Password Management (SSRPM) and are required to do so every 90 days. This tool can also be used to reset your own password if you forget it. You will need to know the answers to the two security questions you previously selected. You are given three (3) attempts to answer your security questions when resetting your password before you are be locked out of the system. If this happens, call or visit the IT Help Desk to have your account unlocked.
Go to SSRPM
As a student you are required to enroll in the Self Service Reset Password Management (SSRPM) site before you can access the Edison State network, email, Blackboard or WebAdvisor. The username and password assigned to you provides access to all of these applications.
How to Enroll into SSRPM:
Upon enrolling into SSRPM, you must reset your default password immediately for security purposes. See the next question in this FAQ for directions on how to reset your password.
NOTE Although your user name will remain the same throughout your time at Edison, your enrollment into SSRPM is important as your password will expire every 90 days. This tool can also be used to reset your own password if you forget it. You will need to know your two security question answers. You are limited to three attempts to correctly answer your security questions when resetting your password or you will be locked out of the network. If this occurs, call or visit the IT Help Desk to have your account unlocked.

How to Reset your password using SSRPM:
There could be several reasons that you may experience difficulty logging in.
