NEW for 2017–2018Comment Code 399 | Conflicting Information Between 2016–2016 and 2017–2018 FAFSAs
The Department of Education has created a new Comment Code 399 on the 2017–2018 FAFSA if they determine that there is conflicting information between your 2016–2017 and 2017–2018 FAFSAs. If you will recall, the 2017–2018 FAFSA also used 2015 income and tax information, which applied to both student/spouse or for dependent student, student/parents. Federal aid regulations require that this conflicting information be resolved prior to disbursement of any federal aid. Therefore, if you have the Comment Code 399, you will be asked to provide additional information and/or complete additional forms in order to resolve the conflicting information. Since financial aid eligibility is suspended until resolved, it is vitally important that you respond as soon as possible.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY The FSA ID―a username and password―has replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN and must be used to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education websites. Your FSA ID confirms your identity when you access your financial aid information and electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents. Click herefor information on how to create a FSA ID.
